Imperial Stock Ranch Yarn

Imperial Stock Ranch

This Native Twist Soft Spun Single Yarn is one of the most adaptable yarns to come out of the Imperial Stock Ranch; a family run operation located on more that 30,000 acres of Oregon's high desert.

A basic worsted weight (medium thickness) yarn, Native Twist is mule spun. Spinning mules are rarely used today but considered by many to produce the highest quality hand worked yarns. Mules spin yarn by drawing, spinning then relaxing the tension over and over again in small lengths. The result is a fluffy, hand-spun feel and a smooth, weighty yarn.

Approximately 220 yards (201 meters ) per 4oz (113g) skein
100% Wool
Available colors: Wild Strawberry, Black and Natural in full or half skeins

For those knitting experts out there, Colombia 2-Ply yarn is a basic worsted weight yarn, yet still easy to work with for Fair Isle and Intarsia techniques.

-- Recommended Gauge: 12 sts/16 rows = 4" (10cm) on size US 11 needles (8mm)
-- CYCA Classification: bulky/5

The Imperial Stock Ranch was founded in 1871 by Robert Hinton, just outside of Shaniko, Oregon; throughout its 141 year history, the ranch has been family owned and operated. In 1988, the ranch was sold to Jeanne and Dan Carver who are the present day owners, and the founders of Imperial Yarns.

Once a year, the soft, white wool from their sheep is harvested and transformed into a wide selection of fibers and yarns. All Imperial wool is specially milled without the use of harsh chemicals or extreme temperatures, leaving it comfortable, soft and pure.

Made in the USA.
