Becky Hogg is an English embroiderer who trained at the prestigious Royal School of Needlework. She's that rare and blessed breed-- a master of her craft with an adaptable and contemporary outlook. Her kits are brilliant modern adaptations of these ancient techniques. You couldn't ask for a better teacher.
Metalwork embroidery, often referred to as goldwork, dates back more than 1,000 years. Gold and other metal-coated threads are 'couched' or sewn on to a garment with fine cotton. The combination of metal and light gives goldwork creations a luminous three dimensional quality.
Metalwork is not as difficult as you may think, but some embroidery experience will help to get going. The kit includes everything you need to create a silver and gold brooch in a letter of your choice. Becky's step-by-step instructions are excellent.
