Merchant & Mills

Merchant & Mills is "determined to encourage the world to sew." Founded by Carolyn Denham, M&M seems to single-handedly be lifting dressmaking out of its association with cutesy florals and drudgery. Carolyn's patterns, choice of fine sewing notions and tools, and simple packaging have aided in Merchant & Mills speedy ascent.

M&M currently offers several basic dress patterns with a grown up, lightly tailored and ultimately elegant feel. Their duffel/shopper bag kits are perfect to break-in the novice tailor and have already been featured in numerous publications on both sides of the pond.

Alongside the patterns, M&M also sells an ever-expanding supremely curated collection of fabrics and sewing notions. Products are utilitarian, pleasurable and 'proper' (e.g. industry standard tailor's chalk and a bamboo point turner to make sure your corners are pin-sharp).
