S & A Beads
Susan Silverman, the founder of S & A Beads, began selling beads and jewelry-making parts at open-air markets across the Washington, DC area. She took the business indoors in 1987. The "A" in S & A stands for Abraham, Susan's son and business partner, who is an expert on antique African beads, one of the shop's specialties. Beads of eclectic tastes, brilliant colors, and diverse cultures can be found throughout the Takoma Park, MD shop. Check-out their website for silver tribal jewelry, ancient Middle Eastern faience, and bone mala. Visit the store for a weekly beading class or commission a special piece by one of the store's resident designers.
